Seven more people have recovered from the Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19) and were discharged from isolation and treatment facilities yesterday.
This brings the total number of discharged patients to 88.
In a modified website dedicated to Covid-19, the Health Ministry said yesterday that a total of 153 active cases were registered in the country, of which three are critical.
A total of 13,553 tests for the virus have been conducted so far.
Bahrain reported its first death from the virus on Monday. The 65-year-old Bahraini woman, who had underlying chronic health conditions, contracted the virus while outside the country.
Meanwhile, a number of measures have been initiated by various government and private agencies in support of the national efforts to limit the spread of the virus.
The National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) announced a temporary ban on medical representatives visiting clinics.
The authority also directed all private and public health facilities that it was fast-tracking licensing applications, in the given scenario of “demand on healthcare services and providers”.
“All applications will be temporarily accepted without Dataflow Reports or Good Standing Certificates (of difficult to obtain),” said NHRA chief executive Dr Maryam al Jalahma in a circular to all public and private healthcare facilities.
The authority also said that it will only issue soft copies of licenses as of now.
While the Supreme Council for Environment said that its services related to environmental licensing, hazardous chemical management, waste management, radiation control and environmental inspection will be limited to online.
Meanwhile, St Christopher’s Cathedral said its compound in Manama will remain closed for all worship and gatherings until further notice.
“In view of the current situation regarding Covid-19 and the directives received from the ministry, we would like to inform you that the compound will be closed for all worship and gatherings until further notice,” it said.
“We are in the process of obtaining a platform for online live streaming and will notify you as soon as we can.”
