A book detailing the work done by Shaikh Ibrahim Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Centre for Culture and Research over the 18 years since its inception in 2002 was presented to His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for charity work and youth affairs, National Security Adviser and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Affairs chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa by Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (Baca) president Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa.
The book epitomises the enlightening role of the centre, features pictures of 27 centre-run revamped houses in Muharraq and Manama and provides details of the centre’s rich cultural programme, apart from hosting hundreds of authors, artists and creative people from the Arab region and the world.
Shaikh Nasser commended the Baca president’s efforts to highlight Bahrain’s cultural and civilisational heritage and lauded her initiatives to conserve historical and heritage sites. He also praised the Baca-led role in reviving old towns which reflect Bahrain’s longstanding identity.
He praised the vital role that the centre plays in promoting culture and research, stressing the importance of the book which aims to preserve the history of the centre and the ancient houses of Bahrain.
Shaikha Mai thanked Shaikh Nasser, hailing his support for the authority’s programmes and events which contribute to promoting Bahrain’s culture, civilisation and history.
