A WOMAN who was allegedly held captive and forced into prostitution recounted her ordeal in court.
The 30-year-old Indonesian said she was made to have sex with up to 20 men a day for almost a month, after being duped by promises of a better salary by a stranger on Facebook.
She told police she was taken to various apartments in Manama where her captors demanded as little as BD7 from clients.
However, she was rescued after a customer allowed another Indonesian victim to use his phone to contact her Bahraini sponsor, for whom she worked as a housemaid.
Police have arrested two Bangladeshi men, aged 34 and 39, who allegedly forced the victims into the vice trade.
The defendants appeared at the High Criminal Court yesterday where they previously pleaded not guilty to human trafficking, assault and holding the victim against her will.
The victim told judges that her life was turned into “hell” when her captors forced her into the vice trade.
She appeared with an official from her embassy who helped translate her testimony to judges.
“I met a woman on Facebook who told me she could help me find a higher paying job,” she said.
“I agreed to run away from my sponsor because I am very poor and needed money.
“I never thought I would be locked up and my life will be turned into hell.
“I was made to have sex with 20 men a day and I was depressed and did not know how to escape.
“I was tortured daily and when another victim managed to use a mobile phone we were rescued.”
The hearing was adjourned until April 19.
