AN urgent proposal to conduct inspection and disinfection work at labour camps across the country is set for debate in Parliament today.
The proposal was submitted last night following the discovery of a 36-year-old Bangladeshi who tested positive for Covid-19 and infected 15 others of the same nationality living with him.
It is being spearheaded by five MPs, led by Ebrahim Al Nefaei, and will be debated at today’s weekly session.
“Hopefully this is a one-off scenario, but things need to be addressed through inspections and disinfection of labour camps and accommodations,” said Mr Al Nefaei.
The proposal also calls for the Health Ministry, the Interior Ministry and the Labour Market Regulatory Authority to conduct work immediately.
Mobile units have been conducting random tests for the coronavirus across the country.
