Bahrain: A fashion show highlighting India’s most traditional women’s attire – the saree – will kick off the diamond jubilee year celebrations of the Indian Ladies Association (ILA).
Nazakat-e-Hind, to be held under the patronage of Shaikha Thajba bint Salman Al Khalifa, will depict the different kinds of sarees in India, the various forms the attire takes across the regions of the country and the graciousness that emerges when women wear them.
The women-only event, at the Downtown Rotana on Saturday at 6pm, will be followed by snacks and finger food.
The show is in aid of the ILA’s many community outreach programmes – which include visits to hospitals and homes for the elderly, workers’ welfare through labour camp interactions, Speak Easy English classes for blue-collar workers, contributions to the Indian Community Relief Fund and needy people and various other causes.
Invitations to the event are available from the ILA for a small donation.
