LAST week, I visited the two main central markets, Manama and Muharraq.
Fruits, vegetables, fish and meat markets operate like the old times where all sorts of business people and customers mix forming a large crowd. You have to rub shoulders with people to pass from one stand to the other.
The salespeople wear no protective gears like face masks and gloves against potential Covid-19 infection.
Our central markets may become a local epicentre of Covid-19 infection unless the respective municipalities implement the precautionary measures set out by the Health Ministry. More needs to be done as fast as possible.
