Bahrain registered the highest number of new Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19) cases in a single day yesterday.
A total of 115 new cases were recorded, taking the total number of active cases to 479, of which three were in critical condition.
The total number of Covid-19 cases registered in Bahrain so far has reached 1,040.
The Health Ministry revealed that 72 of the new active cases were among expatriate workers, while one was an arrival from abroad.
Further preventive measures have been taken for all contacts of new cases, including testing and precautionary quarantine to ensure their safety as well as the safety of the community, added the ministry.
“The active cases among expatriate workers have been detected as part of an ongoing proactive campaign to test workers in their places of residence, as part of measures to ensure the safety of the community,” added the ministry.
“All new active cases had not left their places of residence.”
The ministry added that 16 people were also discharged raising the total number of discharged patients to 555, while a total of 60,706 tests were conducted so far.
Six patients have died, the latest being a 63-year-old Bahraini man who was suffering from underlying health conditions and tested positive for Covid-19 upon his arrival in Bahrain from Iran.
All six fatalities have been registered among Bahraini nationals.
An additional 39 people also left quarantine yesterday raising the number to 629.
According to the ministry, they finished the required quarantine period and underwent complete laboratory testing to ensure they are free of Covid-19.
