THE world is going through a pandemic and Bahrain’s government and health authorities are doing an excellent job to prevent the spread of the disease.
Timely decisions were taken to close the schools and stop all religious and cultural gatherings. Enough steps and care taken by various departments to avoid scarcity of commodities as well as crowding in supermarkets. Most of the supermarkets are providing free gloves and sanitisers for customers.
But when I visited a supermarket yesterday, I noticed a very unhygienic practice from the side of the customers. Before entering the cars they just throw the used gloves in the car park area. This will definitely cause the spread of the disease and also the gloves which are carried by wind, mostly land up in empty grounds and planted areas. This will eventually lead to still bigger problem of spoiling the vegetation and turning the cultivatable land useless.
I wish to suggest a solution... Keep waste bins in car park areas with notice boards, so that people can conveniently dispose of their used gloves. Also the shops can arrange persons to collect the gloves left on floor, with pickup sticks and dispose it of properly. I wish the people concerned will take the required stern action and our beautiful Bahrain will defeat the spread of the coronavirus soon.
