Children sound false fire alarm in mall

TWO children caused panic in a newly-opened mall after one of them “purposely” sounded the fire alarm as a “joke”.

A video circulating on social media on Thursday night showed people leaving Wadi Al Sail Mall in Riffa as the fire alarms sounded.

“It was just two children playing with one of them smashing the glass of the fire alarm call point on his way out,” said head of mall security Egyptian Ahmed Joma’a, aged 32, yesterday.

“We immediately told everyone in the mall that it was a false alarm.

“We have it all on video and our cameras will automatically alert us the next time these children visit the mall.

“We will alert the children’s parents and will not allow the children to visit the mall on their own again.

“We are planning to make it mandatory for parents to accompany their children in the mall.

“If they repeat the offence we will take legal action against the parents, because the children are too young.”

A six-screen cineplex has already opened in the mall and restaurants and Geant Hypermarket are set to open in the next couple of weeks.
