AN expatriate woman committed suicide in Bahrain yesterday.
Indian Latha Narayanan, 54, jumped to her death from the roof of a two-storied building in Riffa where she was living with her husband and son.
The incident was reported to the police at around 4am by people who found her lying on the ground.
“Her husband found her missing when he woke up at around 4am,” informed sources told the GDN.
“He went out of the apartment and saw police downstairs near a body which turned out to be hers.”
The husband, a tourism company employee, reportedly suffered a stroke and was in hospital earlier this month.
“He was discharged three days ago,” said the source.
“Their son is a Grade 12 student of the Indian School Bahrain.”
Meanwhile, an Indian labourer committed suicide on Saturday night, it has emerged.
According to medical records, 30-year-old Raju Gunti died of a heart attack from hanging.
No further details were available.
Six suicides have been reported in Bahrain in the past one month. All the victims were Indians.
Koshy Chacko, 40, hanged himself in his house in Umm Al Hassam on April 7; storekeeper Sathish Kumar, 41, hanged himself at his accommodation in Hamad Town on April 4; Reghunathan Kuniyil, 52, also hanged himself in his Muharraq accommodation on March 26; and Mahesh Vanaparthi, 31, a labourer, hanged himself in his Sitra accommodation on March 23.
