Meanwhile, Bahraini nationals stranded in the UAE have returned home via several evacuation flights from Abu Dhabi International Airport and Dubai International Airport.
The evacuation was facilitated by Bahrain’s Embassy in the UAE in co-operation with the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
Bahrain’s Ambassador in Abu Dhabi Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa yesterday affirmed the keenness of the embassy to support and facilitate the return of Bahraini citizens following the outbreak of Covid-19.
He added that they have also co-ordinated with Bahrain’s Embassy in Japan along with the authorities concerned in the UAE to evacuate six Bahraini students from Japan to Abu Dhabi and then to Bahrain.
Shaikh Khalid said the embassy has launched emergency hotlines to help Bahraini citizens and received more than 3,500 calls with inquiries about the crisis, adding that around 400 Bahraini nationals have been evacuated from the UAE so far.
The Health Ministry also announced yesterday that another group of Bahrainis were flown back from Iran as part of the government’s repatriation programme.
