A number of expatriate men who were filmed throwing Bahraini dinars onto the streets have been remanded in police custody.
They were brought to the Public Prosecution yesterday where they admitted to charges of misusing and insulting the Bahraini currency.
They posted videos of themselves on social media throwing BD20 notes on the ground in their cars and on the streets.
“The Public Prosecution received several notifications regarding Asian men throwing around national money,” said Prosecutor Ahmed Al Ramadan in a statement.
“They were charged with insulting and misusing Bahraini currency.
“They admitted to committing the offence after they were shown videos of the incident which they posted on social media.”
