IN these trying times, it is so uplifting and heartening to note that Bahrain is exercising exemplary justice and care and support to all its residents, regardless of race, religion or ethnicity.
This, indeed, is the true spirit of our Islamic faith: That all individuals be subject to the law and receive fair treatment. The piece ‘Jailed for defamation’ (GDN, April 28) states that an Asian man has been jailed for accusing a ‘certain sect’ for spreading the coronavirus. He will duly be deported from Bahrain after serving his sentence. Whilst Bahrain is executing such justice by stopping racial vilification, India continues to allow its radical Hindu majority to target, mistreat, abuse, ill-treat and torment its own Muslims by making them scapegoats and blaming them for spreading the pandemic!
Indian Muslims are suffering mob violence, lynching and discrimination to the extent of being denied food rations!! How long will we – the Muslim world – continue to turn a blind eye to these atrocities? When will we take action to tell the Indian government “Enough”!
The majority of coronavirus cases in Bahrain are Indians, yet they are being offered free healthcare, food and support here, not to mention the fact that they earn their livelihood here and are never subjected to any racial or religious discrimination. Can India not even take a hint of how well Muslim countries like Bahrain are treating its Hindu residents???
I haven’t yet seen one Indian resident – enjoying all freedoms and justice – in Bahrain, writing or speaking out against the current violence against Muslims in their country. Why???
