I TOTALLY agree that something must be done, ‘Racers endangering lives’ (GDN, May 4). It’s not just on the freeways that youngsters and others drive stupidly. It’s on the interior tight, winding roads in villages. People with such arrogance and on mobile phones texting of all the wonderful things to do whilst driving at high speed, manipulating corners, avoiding parked cars, pedestrians, cyclists and other drivers.
My question has been for many, many years who actually holds a valid driving licence (including some women who can’t seem to be able to apply logic to the basic rules on the road whilst driving a car) and other relevant papers? The next question was, who cared about what was happening? Now it seems notice is being taken although many have died needlessly, hopes dashed and hearts broken. This situation is not a joke.
The nightmare of awful drivers will be exasperated once the causeway reopens. We will need lockdown then for sure.
We have a right to live and if you threaten my life or that of my loved ones you are my enemy. As such I surely have a right to fight back the best I can do legally.
As a peaceful driver who really really needs my car to survive thanks that at last I am seeing some backing.
Whilst on the subject of stupid drivers, please, please would someone who has influence do something about the dangerous way that delivery boys ride their motorcycles? They tailgate and overtake when inappropriate to do so. You cannot brake suddenly if needed because they are so close behind, or avoid anything on your left because as soon as you slow at an obstacle they overtake from the right. It seems from what I have heard even if they are the cause of an accident they are deemed not to be at fault.
Cyclists too seem to have a death wish. Please will someone who is in charge support and help reasonable drivers?
