This is a tale of two mothers: One who gave birth to us and the one who sustained us throughout by giving a better life, food and shelter. Yes, I’m talking about the second mother, Bahrain.
For most of us, our memories of childhood and growing up are embedded into this kingdom. Not only us, Bahrain sustained and endured our children, parents and grandparents to lead a decent life. Whatever we are today is because of this country, the benevolent rulers and the beautiful people who have accepted us as part of their life.
Like a mother tending to her sick children despite all odds, Bahrain rose to the occasion and is courageously fighting this horrible Covid-19, while rest of the world, including developed and rich nations, is still crawling to find its feet to stand up and fight.
Often it’s not about the money, but the good heart and an earnest desire to do something good for its people. There can be no second opinion about this when it comes to Bahrain. From paying Bahrainis’ salaries from private companies to the waiver of EWA bills for three months for all, and free and automatic extension of visit visas, the list is endless.
The rulers, ministers and government and health officials are giving minute details to ensure people feel calm and confident.
It’s time for us expats to support our brave mother at this crucial juncture. Feena Khair is a wonderful opportunity. It’s not just big corporates but even individuals can contribute to this noble cause with whatever amount possible. Assuming 25,000 expats could afford to contribute BD20 a month for three months, it’s a whopping BD1.5 million!
Yes, it may not be possible as an individual to contribute a big sum at one go, but over three months BD20 per month per person is certainly possible and the least we could do to pay back to this glorious country. Of course, one can never compensate for a mother’s love in terms of money but the timing is crucial. Our country needs our unwavering support at this moment. Let’s do it together.
