MANAMA: A webinar on the importance of investor communication during Covid-19 was organised by Bahrain Bourse (BHB) in co-operation with Middle East Investor Relations Association (Meira).
It was held as part of a series of workshops that aim to encourage the implementation of investor relations best practices across listed companies.
The webinar was attended by more than 40 representatives from listed companies along with Meira Bahrain Chapter members.
It outlined the impact of Covid-19 on the market and its operations, measures taken by Bahrain Bourse to support stakeholders, the effect of the pandemic on the sell/buy side including investors’ sentiments and the feedback received from institutional clients.
The importance of reporting and taking accountability to shareholders, as well as the initiatives that can be taken by listed companies to communicate with stakeholders, were also highlighted.
The webinar was moderated by Meira general manager John Gollifer with speakers including Bahrain Clear senior director of operations Abdulla Abdin, Sico chief capital markets officer Fadhel Makhlooq and Zain Group Kuwait chief communications officer Mohammad Abdal.
Meira Bahrain Chapter head Marwa AlMaskati said: “While we navigate through the uncharted territory of Covid-19, investor relations play a crucial role in effective communication to all stakeholders and not just investors. Listed companies are encouraged to update their practices as well as adopt creative communication methods to address the investment community effectively.”
The founding members of Meira chapter in Bahrain include Alba, Bank ABC, Batelco, Bahrain Bourse, Ithmaar Holding, National Bank of Bahrain and Sico.
