Ambassadors and employees of Bahrain’s diplomatic missions abroad were praised yesterday for their determined efforts to arrange the safe return of Bahraini citizens to the kingdom and continuous follow-up on the affairs of citizens living abroad.
This came as Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani made a video conference call with all ambassadors of Bahrain in Arab and foreign countries, with participation of the Assistant Foreign Minister and Under-Secretaries.
He conveyed thanks and appreciation of His Majesty King Hamad, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier.
The minister stressed that the efforts made by the diplomatic missions in these difficult circumstances are appreciated and cherished by all members of society and in particular the families of the citizens returning to the country.
The number of citizens who benefited from the kingdom’s repatriation programme is 5,587 citizens, he said praising the active and important role played by the embassies as a safe haven for Bahraini citizens abroad.
He also valued the co-operation among embassies, consulates and officials in the ministry to facilitate the safety return of the citizens, according to a co-ordinated and effective plan that was set and followed up by competent authorities, including the Health Ministry, Civil Aviation and Gulf Air.
The minister thanked His Majesty for his directives to give the highest levels of care and attention to the kingdom’s embassies abroad, and praised the Crown Prince’s efforts, in accordance with well studied plans and precautionary measures.
He also hailed the community partnership that manifested in the co-operation of all members of society to tackle this great challenge, and the commitment shown by the people of the homeland and residents to the precautionary measures in facing this emergency health pandemic.
