Manama: Bahrain reported two coronavirus (Covid-19) deaths last night.
The deceased, Bahraini men aged 88 and 59, had underlying and chronic health problems, said the Health Ministry.
“The patients, along with all other active Covid-19 cases, had been placed in isolation and received extensive 24-hour treatment from a specialised medical team,” it added.
Last night’s deaths take the total number of virus fatalities in Bahrain to 17.
Meanwhile, 344 new Covid-19 cases were registered yesterday.
Of these, 234 were expatriate workers while 110 were contacts with active cases.
The deaths were from the active cases which now stands at 4,950.
“There are currently 42 cases receiving treatment, of which 13 are in critical condition,” said the ministry.
It also reported 126 new recoveries, taking the total number of people treated and discharged to 5,826.
Meanwhile, a total of 309,573 Covid-19 tests have been conducted in Bahrain, so far.
