THREE men who pushed a man off the rooftop of a four-storey building in Hidd following a drunken brawl have been jailed.
The victim, a 25-year-old BDF personnel, survived as his fall was broken by air-conditioning units, in the incident on November 20, 2018.
The victim was rushed to King Hamad University Hospital in Busaiteen where he was told that he had fractured his backbone.
The defendants – Bahrainis, aged 31, 27 and 25 – were found guilty by the High Criminal Court yesterday where they earlier denied attempted murder.
Two of the accused were jailed for seven years each while the third was sentenced to five years behind bars.
“The defendants were found guilty of the charges due to sufficient evidence against them,” read the court ruling.
“They claimed the victim accidentally fell from the rooftop but this is not true.
“They pushed him off following a brawl.”
The 31-year-old previously told a leading judge that the victim fell after losing his balance.
However, the victim said the defendants took him to the rooftop of the building and assaulted him after the brawl started.
However, neither the defendants nor the victim disclosed in court the reason behind the brawl.
