THE capacity at Covid-19 facilities in Bahrain has been increased, it was revealed yesterday.
The number of beds in the government isolation and treatment facilities has been increased to 7,187 of which 4,884 are occupied, while there are 3,410 beds for quarantine, of which 599 are occupied.
Health Ministry Under-Secretary Dr Waleed Al Manea said this was part of the national efforts to provide efficient treatment to the infected.
“The increase in the absorptive capacity of isolation and treatment centres is according to the plan developed by the national medical team to combat Covid-19, to ensure efficient handling of all those affected,” he said during the online Press conference.
“The treatment is free in public facilities, while optional paid services are available in the private sector.”
He was speaking at an online Press conference along with National Taskforce for Combating Coronavirus (Covid-19) monitoring committee head Lt Col Dr Manaf Al Qahtani and taskforce member and SMC Infectious and Internal Diseases consultant Dr Jameela Al Salman, from the Crown Prince Centre for Training and Medical Research at the BDF Hospital.
