MANAMA: Four more people died from Covid-19 yesterday, with another 469 new cases registered.
This takes the death toll in Bahrain to 46, while the country announced its highest daily tally of new cases yesterday.
The Health Ministry announced the deaths of two women, a 75-year-old Bahraini and a 65-year-old expatriate, together with two expat men, aged 35 and 39.
It expressed condolences to the families of the deceased.
The ministry registered 469 new cases of Covid-19, out of the 7,217 tests carried out yesterday. Of the new cases, 250 were expatriate workers, 198 were contacts of active cases, and 21 were travel related.
The ministry’s latest update on its website, dedicated to Covid-19, showed 5,700 active cases. Of these, 135 were in need of treatment and 20 remain in a critical condition.
The ministry also recorded 449 additional recoveries yesterday, taking the total number of patients now clear of the virus to 13,267.
This means Bahrain has recorded a total of 19,013 cases of the coronavirus, including the active cases, recoveries and fatalities. So far 432,409 tests for Covid-19 have been carried out in Bahrain.
