Riyadh: Egyptian authorities stepped up search operation for Saudi businessman who was kidnapped on Tuesday on a desert highway in Egypt.
Hassan Ahmed Ali Sanad was abducted early Tuesday morning at Kilometre 76 on the highway linking Cairo and Ismailiya.
ONTV Channel quoted a security source saying that criminal security authorities have launched a manhunt.
The 70-year old man is considered one of the leading Saudi businessmen who invested heavily in Egypt.
The abductors reportedly forced the Saudi businessman and his driver to abandon their car and took them to an unknown location, reported local Arabic daily Sabq.
Security sources believe the incident is criminal, dismissing any political motive behind the crime.
