MANAMA: His Majesty King Hamad yesterday issued a decree adding a new clause to a law governing insurance against unemployment.
This follows a Cabinet decision on Monday that the government will shoulder 50 per cent of salaries of Bahrainis working in the private sector for July, August and September.
The move is part of a new relief package launched to help the nation battle the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
The government has also shouldered the salaries of citizens working in the private sector for April, May and June.
The new stimulus package also offers Bahrain’s businesses hardest hit by the virus a three-month reprieve. The Prime Minister and ministers, each in his own jurisdiction, shall implement the provisions of the new amendment, which shall come into effect a day after its publication in the Official Gazette.
