A contingency plan to reopen public and private schools and universities for the new academic year was discussed by a high-level meeting yesterday.
This came as Deputy Premier Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa met Education Minister Dr Majid Al Nuaimi and Under-Secretary for Resources and Services Affairs Dr Mohammed Mubarak Juma’a.
The Deputy Premier was briefed on a report drawn up by a task force studying the impact of reopening the educational institutions for the academic year under the shadow of the coronavirus pandemic.
He directed the task force to finalise the plan, which will be referred to the Cabinet.
Officials representing government departments proposed the contingency plan to ensure the safety of students as well as educational and administrative staff, taking into account best international practices.
