A TEENAGER jailed for three years for raping a 11-year-old in Bahrain has lost his final appeal.
The 19-year-old Bahraini had been sentenced to 10 years behind bars by the High Criminal Court in February.
He then lodged an appeal at the Supreme Criminal Appeals Court which reduced his sentence to three years in jail in April.
However, a final appeal at the Cassation Court was rejected yesterday. “The defendant carried out the offence and investigations and evidence provided by prosecutors were sufficient to find him guilty,” read the highest court ruling.
“He stripped his victim naked and molested him before sexually assaulting him.
“The victim attempted to flee but the defendant overpowered him.
“The defendant then threatened to assault the victim if the latter informed his parents.
“However, the victim told his parents about his ordeal, before authorities arrested the defendant.”
The defendant previously denied the charges but court documents obtained exclusively by the GDN stated the victim identified the defendant.
He forced the victim into an abandoned building at an unnamed location in the Northern Governorate in December last year, where he sexually assaulted him.
