MORE than BD7 million in meat subsidies for the next three months will be deposited into the accounts of 168,054 families tomorrow.
The Labour and Social Development Ministry announced yesterday that it has completed the procedures to deposit the amounts for July, August and September, costing the state exchequer BD7.12m.
These subsidies are disbursed within the mechanisms to support Bahraini citizens, based on the decision of the Cabinet in May 2015, regarding the implementation of the meat support mechanism for citizens.
The GDN reported early this year His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, directed that mechanisms be established to facilitate the provision of direct government subsidies to citizens.
The provision should be in accordance with approved regulations while maintaining the criteria currently in place, to ease the process for citizens benefiting from the cash subsidy programme.
The Cabinet decided to unify the date of subsidy disbursements to citizens across five programmes under the Labour and Social Development and Housing ministries.
The last batch of subsides earlier this year went to 165,310 Bahraini families who received compensation worth BD7,020,895.
