THE outbreak of the coronavirus has disrupted Bahrainis’ daily habits, including slaughtering sheep during Eid Al Adha.
Approved abattoirs will be required to implement a string of precautionary measures to contain the spread of the pandemic, said the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry.
In a statement, the ministry’s agriculture and animal wealth department said that the Hamala slaughterhouse and Bahrain Live Stock Company abattoirs are the only ones approved by the ministry. The agency is co-ordinating with competent authorities to enforce social distancing in slaughterhouses.
Slaughtered sheep will be provided by advance bookings on phone.
Owners of approved abattoirs will be provided five refrigerated vehicles to deliver slaughtered sheep in Bahrain.
Slaughtered sheep will also be delivered to people in their cars without their having to enter the abbatoirs.
