Manama: Eleven suspects have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the Karbabad terrorist attack on April 16 that led to the death of a policeman.
The Molotov cocktail attack also left two other on-duty policemen seriously injured.
The main suspects who plotted the crime have been identified as Hussain Ali Mahdi Jassim, Ahmed Fuad Abbas Al Abar, Abdullah Saeed Jassim Ali and Maitham Ali Ibrahim Yousif, the Interior Ministry announced in a statement last night.
The suspects confessed to the crime and outlined their roles before, during and after the attack, the ministry said.
While four of them allegedly monitored the movements of police jeeps, others are said to have prepared weapons and attacked the police patrol with Molotov cocktails.
Hassan Ali Hassan Ali, Younis Mohammed Ibrahim Salman, Fadhel Abbas Ali Musa and Hussain Abdulmajeed Ibrahim Ahmed watched the movement of police patrols, the ministry said.
Ghareeb Ibrahim Hilal Ali, a technician at a private company, allegedly filmed the terrorist attack.
Suspects who allegedly sheltered the terrorists and hid evidence have been identified as Sayed Ayman Mohsen Ameen, Sayed Ali Mohsen Ameen, Sayed Ameen Hassan Mohammed and Murtadha Khalil Ibrahim Khalil.
Among the four alleged masterminds, Abdullah Saeed Jassim Ali, an employee at a private company, and Maitham Ali Ibrahim Yousif, a security guard at a private company, are at large.
The investigation will continue until all suspects are identified and arrested, the ministry said.
