This refers to ‘Two worried’ (GDN, July 27).
No I am not a hoaxer. Elderly, isolated, with physical disability, cataracts, and macular degeneration. Both eye problems were diagnosed in another country two years ago by a rather nasty eye practitioner. Who said harsh light and sunlight was detrimental to both conditions.
Due to other illnesses in the last two years, one of which involved surgery, there has not been time until very very recently to consult an excellent eye specialist in Bahrain.
Covid-19 and the terrible heat have delayed things as well. So the macular is now being treated and the cataracts await surgery. Incidentally I had never seen macular degeneration written.
Having no one to talk to, the letters page of the GDN is a godsend.
Regarding rats... I have had all my life a mortal terror of both rats and snakes. Snakes follow rats although hopefully not in Bahrain. Thank you for your letter.
