Earlier this month, I read in the GDN that Bahrain airport was reopening for international carriers on July 21 with stringent checks, and testing charges were to be implemented for arrivals. Brilliant I thought, this will allow flights to European destinations and beyond (other than GF to London, Paris and Frankfurt) with the regular carriers that served Bahrain before Covid-19.
Indeed airline websites did show flights available from August 1 and all seemed well. However, the airlines now say that flights are delayed until mid-August awaiting Bahrain civil aviation permission. The same airlines are flying to and from the UAE, Emirates and Etihad are flying to Bahrain, so why the delay? Can anyone enlighten us?
