MANAMA: Bahrain will be featured in the UN Postal Administration’s (UNPA) latest Flag series.
The set of eight stamps, to be issued on August 20, depicts the flags of Bahrain, Belarus, Brazil, Cyprus, Dominica, Mauritania, Mongolia and Paraguay, according to the UNPA.
This series originally ran from 1980 to 1989, depicting the flags of all UN member-states at that time.
The series resumed in 1997 to include the flags of new member-states, show the flags of countries that had changed their names, show new flags, and show flags with design alterations.
Like the previous stamps in the UN Flag series, the designs are se-tenant (side-by-side) in blocks of four in panes of 16.
The centre block of each pane includes one each of the four stamps.
The flags are presented in alphabetical order by country on the panes.
Each stamp is denominated $1.20 for use at UN headquarters in New York City.
The stamps, which measure 40mm by 30mm, can be ordered by visiting the UNPA website, unstamps.org, emailing unpanyinquiries@un.org, or by writing to UNPA, Box 5900, Grand Central Station, New York, NY 10163-5900.
