Dar Kulaib clinched the 44th edition of the Crown Prince Cup volleyball tournament beating Al Najma 3-0 in the final yesterday.
Dar Kulaib were in dominant form claiming all three sets 25-19, 25-21, 25-16. The title clash, played at the Isa Town Sports City in Riffa, marked the conclusion of the 2019-2020 season.
Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) secretary-general Mohammed Hassan Al Nusuf and Bahrain Volleyball Association (BVA) chairman Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa honoured the winners with the trophy and gold medals and presented runners-up Al Najma with silver medals.
The final match and the awarding ceremony were held amid mandatory precautionary measures due to the outbreak of Covid-19 to ensure the safety of players, referees, as well as the administrative and technical teams.
Shaikh Ali thanked His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, for supporting the sport and youth movement.
He also commended the support of His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
He hailed the keenness of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), led by SCYS first deputy chairman Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, in supporting the association.
Shaikh Ali congratulated winners Dar Kulaib and praised the performance of the players as well as the contributions of the technical and administrative teams, hailing the spirit of fair play which reigned during the final.
