MANAMA: Emirates has rolled out a slew of precautionary measures turning its flights and Dubai hub into sterile “green zones”, says the group chairman.
The steps include complimentary hygiene kits containing masks, gloves, hand sanitiser and antibacterial wipes to all customers on the ground at check-in; protective barriers at each check-in desk and immigration counter and all cabin crew on board being fully kitted out in PPEs.
A cabin service assistant (CSA) has been added to the crew on flights over 1.5 hours to ensure lavatories are cleaned at frequent intervals of every 45 minutes.
Comfort items such as mattresses, blankets, pillows and headphones are hygienically sealed.
Reading materials have been removed.
Safety cards are disinfected and all waste bags are replaced after every flight.
All aircraft are deep cleaned in Dubai and go through an enhanced cleaning and disinfection process after every trip.
Emirates is also providing free cover on Covid-19 related medical expenses should a customer be diagnosed with Covid-19 during their travel while being away from home.
Since 1 August, all passengers flying to and through Dubai, require negative Covid-19 PCR test certificates before they can board.
It is also mandatory for all Emirates passengers to wear masks, except for very young passengers.
Emirates continues to serve hot meals, using high quality, cutlery and crockery, sterilised before each use.
“We regularly review and update our hygiene and safety protocols in line with the latest guidance from the authorities and health experts,” said Shaikh Ahmed.
