MANAMA: A brother and sister team won first place in an online challenge to design their own Mars Colony.
Siblings Yousif Ebrahim and Malak Ebrahim secured the top position from among 40 participants in the competition launched in mid-August as a collaborative effort between the National Space Science Agency (NSSA) and Clever Play.
Children aged seven to 12 were tasked with creating designs for human habitable abode on Mars while taking into account all aspects necessary for survival.
“The top prize went to the brother-sister collaboration for their well thought out design which incorporated all elements of a working prototype complete with solar farms, wind turbines, nuclear reactors as well as power sources for the colony,” revealed an official statement released by NSSA.

Second place was won by Abdullah Bucheeri while Lulwa Alhooti came third.
All participants received e-certificates for their efforts while the winners were awarded STEM kits, a trophy and a certificate.
The competition aimed to inspire youngsters to pursue space sciences.
