Hundreds of kilos of shrimps have been confiscated from trawlermen in two separate operations.
According to the Coast Guard Commander, the moves are part of ongoing efforts to combat fishing violations.
He revealed that Coast Guard sea and land patrols had confiscated around 700 kilogrammes of shrimp caught using illegal trawling nets.
“The shrimp was confiscated from fishermen that were fishing using illegal trawling nets in Ras Zowayed and Salary,” he said in an official statement tonight.
Legal proceedings have been completed and the case has been referred to the Public Prosecution.
