Al Hidd have been crowned champions of the Nasser bin Hamad Bahrain Premier League for the 2019-2020 season.
The league winners received the trophy from Bahrain Football Association (BFA) president Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa during a celebration ceremony at Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Isa Town, held under the patronage of His Majesty the King’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Hidd clinched the title on Wednesday after defeating Busaiteen 2-0 in the final round. They collected 41 points from 18 matches to edge past Muharraq by one point.
Shaikh Nasser Congratulated Hidd for claiming the title after remarkable performances during the season. He said that Hidd showed excellent technical levels throughout the season and deserved to be the winners.
“Hidd players proved their ability during the season and their team-work and technical excellence helped them to excel in most of the encounters,” said Shaikh Nasser.
He praised the club’s board, chaired by Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, as well the administrative and technical staff. He also praised the role of the sponsors in the success of the tournament.
Progress
Shaikh Nasser stressed the strong and exciting competition between teams until the last round which, he said, confirms that Bahraini football is on the right path to achieve progress at various levels.
Meanwhile, SCYS first deputy chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa congratulated the champions, praising their grit and determination which helped them clinch the title in these exceptional times.
He also praised the club’s board of directors and the team management for supporting the players.
Shaikh Khalid commended the efforts of BFA in organising the tournament and wished them success in holding competitions in the new season.
Speaking during the ceremony, Shaikh Ali thanked Shaikh Nasser for his support to the tournament and also hailed the efforts of Shaikh Khalid in making the tournament a success. He congratulated champions Hidd on winning the trophy, praising their efforts and commitment.
Asian Football Confederation president and Fifa first vice-president Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa and Youth and Sports Affairs Minister Ayman bin Tawfiq Al Moayyed also congratulated Hidd.
