MANAMA: Three Bahraini businesswomen have been nominated for the International Entrepreneurial Challenge Award 2020, which will be announced in a virtual conference next month.
The awards are an initiative of the International Women’s Entrepreneurial Challenge (IWEC) Foundation, headquartered in New York.
Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry board member Shaikha Hind bint Salman Al Khalifa revealed that the kingdom’s nominees for this year’s awards are Batool Dadabai, Khairiya Dashti, and Sabah Al Moayed.
Shaikha Hind also revealed that Bahrain will host the annual conference next year as this year’s edition, which the kingdom was selected to host, is being held virtually on account of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
The BCCI took part in the 2019 edition of the conference held in New Delhi, where Shaikha Hind and the chamber’s finance, insurance, and tax committee head Sawsan Abulhasan were named among 39 awardees from 18 countries.
The IWEC Foundation’s ecosystem comprises more than 43 organisations and 384 past awardees, who represent women-owned companies from around the globe.
The virtual conference is scheduled to take place on November 9 and 10 and will feature keynote speakers and panelists who will discuss topics relevant to sustainability, a very important issue facing every business globally.
“We look forward to presenting a strong educational programme for you this year as well as continued connectivity for successful women business owners. We will also be acknowledging our ‘Class of 2020 Awardees’, who are nominated by our chamber partners and women’s business affiliate organisations,” says IWEC Foundation chairwoman Ruth Davis in a statement on the foundation’s website.
