A CANCEROUS tumour weighing six kilogrammes was removed from the uterus of a patient at one of Bahrain’s major hospitals.
The woman, aged in her 60s, was admitted to the King Hamad University Hospital after she complained of bloating in her stomach which put pressure on the uterus causing its descent outside the body, said a statement yesterday.
The necessary analyses, examinations and X-rays revealed the tumour to be cancerous.
A surgical team led by consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist Professor Mahmood Ismail at the hospital conducted the successful surgery.
The patient left the hospital in good health, and she will be continuing chemotherapy at the Bahrain Oncology Centre.
