MANAMA: Administrative and legal measures will be taken if a probe concludes that the deaths of twin babies at Bahrain’s main public hospital resulted from negligence or a medical blunder.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, followed up on the tragic incident at Salmaniya Medical Complex as he remotely chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting yesterday.
He was briefed about measures taken by relevant authorities to produce the final report on the case.
The Crown Prince extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the babies.
- The Cabinet approved the payment of 50 per cent of the wages of Bahrainis employed across enterprises most adversely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and insured under the Social Insurance Law.
The payments, covering October, November and December, will be made from the Insurance against Unemployment Account and will be based on eligibility terms and conditions set by the Labour and Social Development Minister.
The payouts followed directives from His Majesty King Hamad to harness national efforts to combat the pandemic, protect citizens and residents’ health and maintain sustained economic development.
The Cabinet also approved parliamentary proposals to support hardest-hit firms, disinfect labour camps, enhance awareness regarding precautionary measures, renew the commercial registrations of businesses that were shut down and support the wages of Bahrainis working in the private sector.
The government has already taken tangible measures in this regard.
- His Majesty King Hamad was yesterday greeted on the anniversary of Prophet Mohammed’s birthday, which falls on Thursday.
Greetings were also extended to His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and the Crown Prince.
The Cabinet also wished the people of Bahrain, the Arab and Islamic nations greater progress and prosperity on the occasion, said Cabinet secretary general Dr Yasser Al Nasser.
