MANAMA: His Majesty King Hamad has strongly rejected all forms of violence and extremism.
“Terrorists and extremists do not represent true Islam which is based on love and tolerance,” he said.
He voiced the stance as he received a phone call yesterday from European Council president Charles Michel.
“Islam is the religion of morals, fraternity and peace with everyone,” His Majesty said, stressing the need to reject extremism and hate speech, and confront them wherever and in any form.
He praised Bahrainis’ morals, stressing the kingdom’s decades-long reputation as a land of hospitality, coexistence, peace and respect for all religions.
The King thanked Mr Michel for his call that reflects the noble efforts he is exerting to consolidate mutual understanding among societies and religions as an alternative to division.
They discussed joint and continuous efforts to combat terrorism and extremism, in light of the recent events that have taken place in Europe.
