MANAMA: ‘Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) – a Strategy for Petro-economies of the GCC’, a webinar featuring speakers from Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Sabic) and National Oil and Gas Authority (Noga) will take place today at 2pm.
Led by Dr Abdulaziz Al Jodai and Hussain Makki, experts from Sabic and Noga, the webinar will look at CCU technology and provide an insight into the technology options to be deployed in CCU, storage and transport, scale-up and commercialisation, the latest research and findings from carbon capture projects, market predictions, business opportunities, and unlocking the economic potential of CCUS in the GCC.
The webinar is free to registered attendees and will be jointly moderated by Arab British Chamber of Commerce secretary general and chief executive Bandar Ali Reda, and Larissa Lee Beck, CCUS policy innovation director of the Clean Air Task Force USA.
Oil and Gas News is the media host for the event.
Speaking about the event, Oil and Gas News publishing director Jubran Abdulrahman, said, “The event is an exciting initiative for OGN and our knowledge partners Sabic and Noga. It presents the opportunity for the oil and gas sector to share their technology know-how and future vision to deal with the environment challenges facing carbon-based fuels.”
Dr Al Jodai, a US UOP engineering fellow with a PhD in chemical engineering and a master’s in industrial management from WVU USA, is leading the contribution of Sabic at the webinar.
He was the lead on the Blue Ammonia project and holds numerous patents.
“Dr Al Jodai is the technical leader for the world’s major carbon capturing and utilisation project at Sabic and his fountain of expertise provides invaluable thought leadership for a global conundrum,” added Mr Abdulrahman.
Bahrain is committed to reducing its pollutants from its oil sector and as the chairman of Noga’s Climate Change Committee and Technical Coordinator of Noga, Mr Makki is well placed to provide invaluable thought-provoking knowledge on circular carbon economy.
“Carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS), is an important emissions reduction technology that can be applied across the energy system, and renewable energy is an excellent future source for recycling CO2. This places the GCC in a critically important position to explore the role of CCUS technologies in clean energy transitions for the future,” said Dr Al Jodai.
Arab British Chamber of Commerce is supporting the webinar with 10Xevents as a technology partner.
