Bahrain Kuwait Insurance Co (gig Bahrain) chief executive Dr Abdulla Sultan is among 16 industry stalwarts who have emerged winners at the seventh Middle East Insurance Industry Awards (MIIA), held virtually for the very first time.
Named the ‘Young Leader of the Year’ by the MIIA this year, Dr Sultan joined GIG Bahrain as first deputy chief executive last year and become CEO this year.
Prior to joining gig Bahrain, Dr Sultan held several senior management positions.
At present, Dr Abdulla continues to share his extensive industry knowledge on the board of United Insurance Company as well as on the board of the Bahrain Insurance Association.
Dr Sultan said, “It a privilege and honour to accept the Young Leader award of 2020. I would like to add a message for the younger generation that age is no longer a pre-requisite for leadership. Today, not only companies but entire nations, depend on young leaders. With determination and integrity, the sky is the limit. Keep setting high goals and out-work everybody else to achieve them.”
Dr Sultan added, “I would like to seize this opportunity to thank the government of Bahrain, the CBB and our board of directors, for encouraging the younger generation, believing in them and giving them the opportunity to shine.”
Selected from more than 200 entries across the Mena region, the winners have proved their mettle and commitment to the sector amidst the ongoing global health crisis, said the organiser, the Middle East Insurance Review.
The awards event was supported by DIFC, DIFC Insurance Association, FAIR and GAIF.
