IT is absurd that the debate still rages on.
We have to get rid, first, of the notion that the government is there to provide freebies and, second, that expats should be treated on par with citizens in case of government subsidies.
As it stands Bahrain has one of the lowest utility tariffs in the Middle East and so also the cost of living.
I am simply happy that the government isn’t increasing VAT (value-added tax) rates and not taxing expat income.
My advice to fellow expats: Don’t be greedy, be grateful.
