All measures have been taken to ensure safe Formula 1 races this weekend and next.
Addressing a Press conference today, Health Ministry Under-Secretary Dr Walid Al Manea said, “The door is open for frontline healthcare workers to attend the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix this weekend and the Formula 1 Rolex Sakhir Grand Prix, the following week.
“The gesture of HRH Crown Prince Prime Minister is an honour for the healthcare workers,” he added.
Meanwhile, he said two million PCR tests have been conducted which is a great achievement and reflects that Bahrain is going steadily on the right track.
“The efforts of the healthcare workers in indeed noteworthy.
“More than 50 per cent of the population has been tested at least once.
“Bahrain has requested for one million vaccines, enough to cater to all residents and citizens once approved; the country is ready to implement this.”
He also pointed out that the target was to eradicate the virus which required commitment to health guidelines.
Also addressing the Press conference were National Taskforce for Combating Coronavirus (Covid-19) member Dr Manaf Al Qahtani and Lieutenant Colonel Salmaniya Medical Complex Infectious and Internal Diseases consultant Dr Jameela Al Salman.
