SHURA Council members yesterday marked Bahraini Women’s Day, which falls tomorrow.
This year it is being celebrated under the theme, Women in Diplomatic Work.
In a statement read out by secretary general Osama Al Asfoor, the upper chamber praised the role of Bahraini women, with one of them becoming the first Under-Secretary at the Foreign Ministry in the region.
Shura woman and child committee chairwoman Dr Ibtisam Al Dallal and human rights committee chairman Ahmed Al Haddad also spoke on the importance of the day in recognising women pioneers.
Shura chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh said: “Bahraini women have always done a better job inside and outside a home in any post or job given to them and this shows how vital they continue to be in developing the society, community and country.
“Women legislators are an example of success over the years as ambassadors to the country across the world and they deserve praise and gratitude.”
