MANAMA: Formula One driver Romain Grosjean has sent a heartfelt ‘thank you’ message to the marshals who rushed to his aid to help him escape the burning wreckage of his Haas car.
The Frenchman is recovering from burns to his hands and ankles at the BDF Hospital in Riffa.
“I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the effort, the work, the initiative, everything you did for me,” he said in a post on social media.
“You helped me get out of that big fire and kept me alive. So, thank you very much.
“We need you for racing and I will always be grateful that you were there for me.”

Bahrain Marshals Motorsport Club president Fayez Ramzi visited Grosjean yesterday to check up on his health and wish him a ‘speedy recovery’.
At the same time, an inquest into the accident is taking place by the FIA, circuit executives and the team to find out if any lessons can be learned after his car smashed into a barrier and split in two before bursting into flames.
Insiders say the driver’s clothing, particularly the gloves and shoes, are under scrutiny too.
