AN urgent proposal to ask the government to offer Covid-19 vaccines for Bahrainis working and studying abroad was approved unanimously by MPs yesterday.
The proposal, presented by five MPs led by Ahmed Al Amer, will now be reviewed by the Cabinet.
It seeks to have Bahrain’s diplomatic missions, embassies and consulates to make arrangements to provide the vaccines free of charge.
The GDN reported that Bahrain has ordered one million vaccines which are expected to arrive early next year.
“Arrangements to provide the vaccines for Bahrainis should be made wherever they are as the government ensures their safety,” said Mr Al Amer.
“Every Bahraini abroad whether working or studying needs to know that our government would not let them get sick or fall ill whether it is Covid-19 or any other disease,” he said.
“The Foreign Ministry should provide a list of all Bahraini passport-holders abroad so whenever the vaccine arrives sufficient numbers are transported securely to cover all.”
