HUNDREDS of children are expected to take part in a popular annual art carnival which will be held virtually this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The ‘Faber Castell Spectra 2020’ competition, organised by the Indian Community Relief fund (ICRF), is being held under the patronage of the Indian Embassy on December 11.
Aimed at promoting the artistic skills of children, all participants will be provided with drawing paper and materials.
Children will be divided into four age groups: Five to eight years, eight to 11 years, 11 to 14 years and 14 to 18 years.
Participations will be only allowed through schools and institutions.
The top three winners from each category will receive individual trophies and certificates, with the rest receiving certificates of participation. “The winning entries and other outstanding creations will be showcased in the calendars for 2021,” said the ICRF in a statement. “The calendars will be launched on January 2.”
“Net proceeds from the competition will go towards a Family Welfare Fund to provide relief to support the families of deceased Indian labourers drawing wages below BD100 per month.”
