US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will open Bahrain’s premier security summit in a virtual address this evening.
The 16th International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Regional Security Summit: The Manama Dialogue 2020 will be held from today until Sunday at the Ritz-Carlton Bahrain.
Among those attending physically this year include Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud along with his Omani counterpart Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi and Korean Foreign Minister Dr Kang Kyung-Wha.
High-profile delegates taking part virtually this year are Israel’s Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi, Canada’s Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan and China’s Special Envoy for the Middle East Ambassador Zhai Jun.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic this year’s annual conference is being held in a hybrid format with some participants physically attending the meet here, while others will be tuned in virtually.
