MANAMA: Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani met GCC Secretary General Dr Nayef bin Falah Mubarak Al Hajraf, on the sidelines of the 16th Manama Dialogue.
They reviewed joint Gulf action and ways to enhance and develop it to meet the aspirations of member states and their citizens.
The two sides also exchanged views on a number of issues of common concern.
Regional and GCC Affairs Under-Secretary Ambassador Waheed Mubarak Sayyar, GCC and Arab Countries Affairs assistant under-secretary Ambassador Yusuf Mohammad Jamil, and the accompanying delegation of the GCC secretary general attended the meeting.
Bahrain’s closes ties with the European Union was in focus at another meeting between Dr Al Zayani and European Union’s Ambassador to Bahrain Patrick Simonnet.
Both sides reviewed the close friendship between the kingdom and the EU, affirming their mutual keenness to strengthen ties to achieve people’s aspirations.
Also present were Foreign Ministry Under-Secretary for International Affairs Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, and European Affairs Directorate director Ambassador Shaikha Aisha bint Ahmed bin Saqr Al Khalifa.
The Foreign Minister also met Levant Affairs Deputy Assistant Secretary and Special Envoy for Syria at the US Department of State Joel Rayburn.
Co-operation
They reviewed ways of boosting co-operation between the two friendly countries in various fields.
The meeting was attended by Dr Shaikh Abdullah and Director of Americas and Pacific Affairs Directorate, Ambassador Shaikh Abdulla bin Ali Al Khalifa. Chairman of Board of Directors of the Export-Import Bank of the US, Kimberly Reed, US Embassy’s Chargé d’Affaires Margaret Nardi, and the accompanying delegation attended the meeting.
